On Monday, we embarked on a short drive that proved to be highly successful. During our journey, we identified two potential drill targets that came into clearer view. The top candidate, known as “Aberlady,” exhibited striking similarities in color, structure, and texture to the Sol 2365 target “Longannet.” These similarities gave the science team confidence in Aberlady as a promising site for our first drilling efforts in the clay-bearing unit.
In order to confirm Aberlady’s suitability for drilling, the science team decided to conduct detailed observations today. They employed a range of instruments such as APXS and ChemCam, in addition to capturing high-resolution images using MAHLI. The data gathered from these observations will play a crucial role in making the final decision on whether to proceed with drilling at Aberlady.
The anticipation of what Aberlady may reveal is palpable. As such, we will keep you updated on our findings once the results of these observations are available tomorrow.
