Thanasis Antetokounmpo of the Bucks to have surgery on torn Achilles injury

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s younger brother Thanasis is facing surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. This injury will likely keep Thanos out of the upcoming summer games with the Greek national team as they aim to qualify for the Olympics.

Last season, when Giannis did not play for the Greek team, Thanos had a more significant role. However, with his injury, he is likely to miss most, if not all, of the next NBA season. At 31 years old, Thanos has been a part of the Milwaukee Bucks for five years and played 34 games this season. Despite signing several one-year contracts to remain with the team, his injury raises questions about his future with the Bucks. The team may have to reconsider their approach considering he won’t be able to play for an entire year.
