In a recent poll conducted by ABC News/Ipsos, it was found that Americans trust former President Trump more than current President Biden when it comes to the economy and inflation. The survey revealed that these two issues are the top concerns for Americans going into the upcoming presidential election, with a majority of respondents expressing their trust in Trump on these matters compared to Biden.

According to the poll, 88% of respondents stated that the economy is a crucial factor in determining their vote, while 85% said the same for inflation. When it comes to handling the economy, 46% of Americans said they trust Trump, while only 32% expressed the same trust in Biden. Additionally, 44% of respondents said they trust Trump to handle inflation, with only 30% expressing the same trust in Biden. A significant portion of respondents, 25%, stated that they trust neither candidate on this issue.

The survey also looked at how respondents’ financial situation has changed since Biden took office. Forty-three percent of people said they are not as well off financially now as they were before he assumed office, while forty percent said their financial situation has remained relatively stable. Sixteen percent reported being better off financially under President Biden’s leadership.

If an election between Biden and Trump were to happen today, according to the hypothetical scenario presented in the poll, Trump would have 46% support among all adults surveyed while Biden would have 44%. However, among registered voters, Biden would lead with 46% support over Trump’s 45%. Among likely voters, Biden received 49% support compared to Trump’s 45%.

Overall, this ABC News/Ipsos poll was conducted online among 2,260 adults from April 25-30 and has a margin of sampling error of two percentage points.
